The Empower Program at El Paso Children’s Hospital Foundation helps children and teens reduce their risk of prediabetes and type 2 diabetes through sustainable, family-supported lifestyle changes. Funded in part by the Paso del Norte Health Foundation, the program offers:

  • Personalized health plans developed with dietitians and shared with pediatricians
  • Family-centered support to create lasting healthy habits
  • Counseling services to overcome behavioral and emotional barriers

Paired with the El Paso Health Teaching Kitchen, families gain hands-on skills to prepare healthy, affordable meals. The kitchen offers:

  • Cooking demos
  • Nutrition education
  • Budget-friendly meal planning workshops

Together, these programs empower families with the tools to build healthier futures, combating diabetes and promoting long-term wellness across our region.
